Counselling or Psychotherapy
Counselling or Psychotherapy provides a place to create happier and healthier relationships with yourself and those people around you that you consider important. You will work with somebody qualified and experienced in supporting people just like you. Counselling is somewhere to understand yourself better, and feel more confident and empowered in the choices you make.
How I work
In my therapeutic work I use a mixture of models depending on works for you and what you are brining., I like to work creatively with you integrating body work, creative writing and art materials, it really depends on what works for you, my core models being: Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Intercultural.
- Person Centred: The approach is for the clients to become able to see themselves as a person who has the power and freedom to change, and recognise their own potential.
- Psychodynamic: This approach stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experience in shaping current behaviour.
- Intercultural/ Transcultural: The approach takes into account the whole being of the client and also the client’s cultural life experience in the world both past and present.
For my counselling specialisms please go to each section to find out more: Sex & Relationship Counselling for those with Learning Support Needs or a Physical Disability; Gender, Sexuality & Sexual Expression; Groupwork; Trauma and Young People 16+.
I am happy to take referrals from individuals, a parent or carer; GPs and the NHS; voluntary or statutory services, or; schools, colleges and universities. I am happy to offer concessions for students or those on state benefits these are only available for daytime sessions.
Working ethically is the cornerstone to the one to one counselling, group therapy and supervision I offer. I subscribe to and I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists Ethical Framework (BACP). Currently, having gained the hours necessary, I am working towards completing my accreditation with the BACP.
